The New 2025 Honda Pilot

The Honda Pilot is a spacious three-row SUV that packs modern technology and design into a well-priced package. For the 2025 model year, the Pilot sticks to its guns, not undergoing any major redesigns for the new model year. The new Black Edition trim gets a spot at the top of the range, but it’s just the cherry on top of the sundae – let’s see what makes the 2025 Honda Pilot one of the best value-minded mid-size SUVs on the market!

Performance Features

Under the hood of the 2025 Honda Pilot, a 3.5-liter V-6 engine produces 285 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a 10-speed automatic, and both front- and all-wheel-drive are available. The latter feature the i-VTM4 all-wheel-drive system with superior torque vectoring, for superior steering and braking. Hill Descent Control and multiple drive modes, including Sand mode and Trail mode on EX-L trim levels and above, help the Pilot tackle difficult conditions and off-road travel. The TrailSport trim adds an extra inch of ground clearance, an off-road tuned suspension, and steel skid plates to protect the underbody for those looking to tackle the trails on a regular basis. Fuel economy ranges from 19 MPG city and 27 MPG highway in the base front-wheel drive Sport trim, to 18 MPG city and 23 MPG highway in the TrailSport all-wheel-drive trim.

Style and Technology

Tough and truck-like, sitting on the same platform as the Ridgeline truck, the 2025 Honda Pilot features swelling fenders and molded sides for an athletic look. The Honda Performance Development (HPD) appearance package adds aggressive fender flares, unique wheels, and HPD graphics. The Black Edition also offers an upgraded exterior package.

Inside, the lengthy wheelbase of the 2025 Pilot offers room for up to 8 passengers, with roomy second and third row seats. With the third row in place, the cargo area has 22.4 cubic feet of cargo space, plenty for shopping and sports gear. This can be expanded up to 113.7 cubic feet of maximum cargo space with the second and third rows stowed, which makes the Pilot perfect for moving kids off to college or big weekend errands like hauling mulch or picking up finds from a flea market.

The base 7-inch touchscreen comes with standard wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. A 9-inch touchscreen with nine total speakers is standard above the Sport trim level, while wireless CarPlay and Auto integration is found on higher trims. Four USB ports, including two second-row USB-A charging ports are standard across the model range, and Qi-compatible wireless charging is standard above the base level. A 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, navigation, and the TrailWatch multi-view camera system are all optional tech upgrades.

Honda takes safety a step further, providing the Traffic Sign Recognition System as standard, while making the Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Monitor available as an upgrade.

Trim Levels

With the six available trim levels for the new 2025 Honda Pilot make it easy to find the right mix for your lifestyle!

With the LX discontinued, the Sport trim is the entry level for the 2025 Pilot. Durable cloth upholstery features, and both front seats have power adjustment – 10-way for the driver, and 4-way for the passenger. The front seats are heated as well. Tri-zone automatic climate control is standard for comfort. Outside, 20-inch Shark Gray 7-spoke wheels with black lug nuts, dual chrome exhaust finishers, and gloss black roof rails provide a sporty appearance.

EX-L trim level models offer seating for seven or eight, with the option for second row captain’s chairs. Leather-trimmed seating is standard, and the upgraded 9-inch touchscreen is standard, along with a nine-speaker audio system and QI-compatible wireless smartphone charging. The exterior features 18-inch machine-finished alloy wheels with pewter gray inserts and chrome lug nuts. Handling cargo is easier, with a programmable power liftgate, and in-cabin communication is made easier with the CabinTalk In-Car PA system.

The TrailSport trim includes modifications and features to make off-road travel a breeze. Rugged-look 18-inch alloy wheels, an upgraded suspension providing an extra inch of clearance, and skid plates help get across rough terrain. An integrated Class III Trailer Hitch provides the TrailSport with the highest towing capability in the line-up. The interior features TrailSport logos throughout, with orange contrast stitching and logoed head restraints on the seats. Passengers can enjoy the forests and trails to the standard sliding panoramic sunroof.

The Touring trim builds on the EX-L trim, adding in some of the TrailSport’s non-off-road options like the panoramic sunroof. The 12-speaker Bose premium audio system is standard on this trim and above, offering concert-quality audio, and the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System offers easy-to-follow directions. Wi-Fi Hotspot Capability is included. LED lighting and front door courtesy lights add ambiance and safety, while the power tailgate gets hands-free access with walk-away close.

Capping off the model range is the Elite trim, which adds on to the Touring trim with leather seat inserts featuring throughout the cabin. The front seats are ventilated, and the steering wheel is heated. A configurable 10.2-inch instrument display with a 4-inch color heads-up display keeps focused on the road ahead. LED door trim lighting provides even more luxury vibes. The multi-view camera system with 360-degree view is standard, making it easy for the driver to see the area around their vehicle when maneuvering in crowded areas.

The Black Edition is essentially just the Elite trim with an appearance package. This includes gloss black exterior mirrors and 20-inch gloss black alloy wheel with black lug nuts. Black leather-trimmed seating gets red highlight stitching.

With so many option and a reliable powertrain, it’s no wonder that the Honda Pilot continues to be a favorite amongst car buyers looking for a value-minded people hauler.
